Food is any material eaten to supply essential nutrition to an organisms. Food is generally of animal, plant or fungi origin, and includes essential nutrients, including proteins, vitamins, sugars, carbohydrates or minerals. In fact, food is categorized into three main categories: animal foods, vegetable foods and fruits/vegetables.

Animal foods are rich in protein, fat, vitamins, carbohydrates, and various minerals. They contain the richest nutrients for a human being, which are also the most energy dense. Food from animal sources contains the highest concentration of nutrients. These foods contain all the necessary elements for health, including protein, mineral salts, and certain B vitamins. However, animal foods are high in calories and fat, and so they lead to weight gain. Thus, if you want to remain healthy, you need to eat foods that are low in calories and fat and high in nutritional value.

Vegetable foods are full of nutrients but lack calories, fat, and sodium. Thus, they form the basic diet for most vegetarians, and they are very important for a healthy diet as well. Vegetable foods are light, easy to digest, and tasty. You can easily make salads from vegetables, using various ingredients to spice them up. Some of the most nutritious vegetable foods include: beans, peas, carrots, asparagus, cabbage, cucumber, broccoli, tomatoes, spinach, kale, parsley, brussel sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, okra, mushrooms, peas, carrots, potatoes, eggplant, halibut, tuna, salmon, sweet potato, cabbage, broccolli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, bok choy, ginseng, garlic, ginger, turmeric, fennel, cauliflower, and ginger.

Nuts, seeds, beans, grains, nuts, and whole grains provide a good amount of nutrition. However, vegetarians need to eliminate soy products, milk, eggs, milk products, cheese, wheat products, peanuts, chocolate, peanut butter, wheat breads, refined sugar, artificial sweeteners, salt, and preservatives.
